Electric door locks operate via an electronic control module connected to an actuator in each door. When the driver presses the lock/unlock buttons on the key fob or inside the vehicle, a signal is sent to the control module, which then activates the corresponding electric motor to lock or unlock the door.
Keyless-Go
A more modern development is the “Keyless-Go” variant, where simply carrying the car key in your pocket is enough to automatically lock or unlock the vehicle when you approach or move away from it.
The door lock unit consists of the electric lock (A) and the electric locking device (B).
At the first sign of jamming or snagging, take it to the repair shop immediately. There is a risk that the door will no longer open. To open it, the lock will have to be broken open by force, or the interior trim will have to be laboriously dismantled.
One of the main causes of this is a defective motor inside the door lock. This causes the contacts in the motor to char, preventing a clean flow of electricity.
