Residual pressure relief valves
The residual pressure relief valves are usually located at the top of the air suspension struts and ensure that a certain residual pressure remains in the air suspension strut. They are subject to wear and tear.


If the valve described is leaking or defective, the vehicle level will drop. The air compressor will be forced into continuous operation and will subsequently fail due to overheating (more on this in the Compressors section).
If a fault in the residual pressure valve is detected in time, potentially expensive follow-up repairs can be avoided. The cost of a residual pressure valve is many times lower than that of an air spring strut or compressor.
Our technicians recommend checking the residual pressure valve for leaks before replacing the entire strut.
